Perhaps unsurprisingly Gian Piero Gasperini has won Italy’s Panchina d’Oro as the best manager of the 2018-2019 campaign. In a season that saw Atalanta finish 3rd in the Scudetto race, reach the finals of the Coppa Italia, and make it to the Champion’s League for the first time the team’s history. He seemed to be the obvious choice for voters. Bologna’s Sinisa Mihajlovic, and ex-Juventus manager Max Allegri rounded out the top 3.
In typical fashion for Gasperini, he stated that the award is one that must not just be his, but shared across the city of Bergamo. Without a doubt, Gasps’s is correct that it truly is a team effort to bring a team like Atalanta to such prominence. But for now, soak it in Gasperini! It’s an award well deserved, and you have shown this year that you’re not just a flash in the pan. Time to keep it up, and Forza Atalanta!
